…recycling…

so what1

So I planned on entering this for the Kraft + November challenge, which was to be inspired by P!nk, the musician, not the color 😛

so what2

Now using kraft is a challenge for me, but I’ve seen some awesome interpretations, and I love P!nk, so I thought I’d give it a go.  Loving mixed media the way that I do, I had to art up my kraft background.

so what3

I also tried to do a die-cut background, which forced me to cut my kraft paper in half to run them through my Cuttlebug.

so what5

Unfortunately, with the holiday, and me trying to do too many things at once, I missed the deadline.

so what4

However, I combined that challenge with the Off the Rails November moodboard.

I really liked the color scheme, and the recycling aspect, as I’ve always been into being green (I was super excited when they finally introduced paper recycling in my hometown :P)

IMG_9862

So my recycling on this layout comes from a clothing tag that I arted up.  I kept the word in keeping with the P!nk song “So What?”

so what6

The main point of the layout is the number.  I started doing a local walk(Sounds of Silence, hence: SOS) to raise money and awareness about postpartum mood disorders (which I dealt with and in some senses, still do).

so what7

When you register, the computer generates a random race number for you to wear.  You get your race number the day of the walk.  Now some people would probably get upset at the number that I ended up getting.  However, I’m not of that persuasion and simply found it hilarious (I’m weird like that).  And so thus the title of my layout, hee hee.

Happy scrapping!

…thankful…

…for a seriously colorful and awesome moodboard!  This is right up my alley!

Besides the colors, I used lots of hearts, circles, and stars along with some twine (from the hanging shapes).  My journaling card tells what I’m thankful for regarding the photos of hubby and munchkin working on a jigsaw puzzle together.

I also played with the single page sketch from Stick It Down.

…gaining perspective…

IMG_8570

I had an idea pop into my head, and still had plenty of supplies that I hadn’t used, so after grabbing a couple other things, I managed to get this done in two days!  Unheard of!

IMG_8192

And I even added a little media to it!  So I grabbed some awesome patterned paper from my most recent Citrus Twist kit.  I turned it sideways and dripped from Liquitex liquid ink in red and yellow in two spots.  While and after it was drying, I put together my other layers.

IMG_8193

I’ve read from other people how it’s rather freeing to just use what you have and call it done.  I have to admit they’re right!

IMG_8195

For me it’s easy since I tend to grab way more stuff than I’ll actually use which means plenty of leftovers ;P

IMG_8196

However, a majority or this layout came from stuff that I’d grabbed but not used.  I added some washi, alphas from a past Citrus Twist kit, and a sheet of Kelly Purkey stickers.

IMG_8197

An UmWow Studio badge and chipboard arrow that I covered using my Sakura orange paint marker and used my white-out pen to outline it.

IMG_8198

That rainbow tag is actually a reclaimed envelope covered in watercolor crayons.

The layout just didn’t seem finished until I added a little hand-drawn border.

I’m entering this in Scrap Our Stash #30 – LAYERS

…having a flashback…

IMG_8518

I’ve noticed that lots of mixed media scrapbookers tend to use gesso to cover their page before adding paint or whatever.  My issue with that is I usually really like the paper I’m using, so I’ve started using matte medium instead.  Same purpose, but clear.  So I grabbed some Amy Tangerine patterned paper and spread matte medium, then sprayed Dylusions ink through my Dylusions alpha stencil in a couple spots on my page.

SATW September

With Scrap Around the World‘s moodboard this month, I got inspired by the writing, letters, and school atmosphere.  I also had yet to scrap the photos from my little guy’s first day of pre-school (he’s now in 1st grade).

IMG_8519

I used cameras and hearts for my visual triangles.  That’s a Webster’s Pages cameo, a acrylic die-cut that I colored the heart green with paint markers, and a chipboard diamond from my Citrus Twist.

Washi tape from Citrus Twist kit, Pinkfresh stickers and stamp

 IMG_8526

UmWow Studio chipboard frame colored with paint markers, alphas from CT kit, Pinkfresh puffy and epoxy stickers, MME chipboard paper airplane (a classic symbol of school in my opinion), SC chipboard camera, thread from my stash

 IMG_8521

I stuck with grid and notebook designs in keeping with the school theme.  Simply Stories journaling card, Leftover tag from SC kit (I cut the top off for a previous project), chipboard shape with goil foil word

 IMG_8524

Sodalicious (honeycomb with book text) and Little Yellow Bicycle (letters) patterned paper, paper clip from my stash, wooden phrase from CT kit, label from SC kit, Kelly Purkey label sticker, Pinkfresh sticker

…high on happy…

My entry for Scrap Around the World’s June mood board:

“high on happy”

high on happy

and the mood board:

SATW June 2015

Most kids love jumping,  my munchkin is no exception 🙂  So the trampoline from my sister-in-law is definitely earning it’s keep.  So my layout was inspired by the quote, kind of a double meaning.  My son doesn’t NEED his trampoline to be happy, but it doesn’t hurt.  And I’m happy seeing him happy.  Hence the title and photo, of his feet in mid-jump on his trampoline.

high-on-happy4

This is another foray into large titles.  I also played with large titles here and here.

high-on-happy3

I used a fair amount of goodies on this 😀

high-on-happy5

I used a Studio Calico sketch, and after a lot of fun, turned it sideways and was happy to continue.

high-on-happy6

I incorporated both chevron goodness and circles throughtout.

high-on-happy7

I also added some coordinated washi tape, little die-cuts, along with papers and bits from Studio Calico and Citrus Twist kits.

high-on-happy1

Also used embellishments from Maya Road, my Amy Tangerine roller stamp, and Maya Road seafoam spray for the splats 🙂

Happy scrapping!

…up way too late…

Here’s my entry for Gauche Alchemy’s April mood board, full of color!  My kind of moodboard!  I’m also entering this for Sketches in Thyme Sketch #147

IMG_5366

The down pointing arrow on the top left is a transparency, it’s actually deep purple and says “WONDERFUL.”  And I flipped the sketch over.  Took me awhile to decide that, let me tell ya!  More pics soon!

Happy scrapping!
