…even creative while sick…

…yeah, I was nursing my poor hubby with his flu, and though I got my flu shot, I seem to be one of those people that if they get even a whiff of a cold, I get hit with bronchitis.  I won’t bore you or gross you out too much, but take a cold with a stuffy nose and add the stuffiness to your lungs as well, complete with a smoker’s cough.  Not fun.

But, as I said, I have been busy creating stuff.  Card mostly, but I’m going to be doing some layouts soon.  In the meantime, I wanted to share two cards with you, my lovely readers and scrapbook junkies 🙂

Yes, I know it’s winter holiday themed, and I hate the Christmas stuff being out way too soon myself, but I wanted to make some for the upcoming season.  So here’s one that I made with a white cardstock base, a couple different patterned papers that I distressed and inked/gessoed; the music paper is way old!  Come to think of it, so is that semi-circle piece peeking out from under my tag, though not quite as old.

I also had some older winter-themed stickers and chipboard that I really wanted to use.  I used a black American Crafts pen on the edge of the chipboard teal bow, and gesso on the ornament.

I also had some hexagons I had cut out, added the letters too, and gessoed the edge of the letters and hexagon, but didn’t like that, so I added gesso to the rest of the hexagon surface.  I had some leftover burgundy paint, which I added to the edges.  Much better!  I added a couple buttons with baker’s twine centers, and some light-grey thread, along with a leftover scrap of blue ribbon with gesso splatters and bakers’s twine, and called it done!

Originally I had three hexagons, but I couldn’t fine the third.  Course, when I cleaned up, I found it (*headsmack*).  Oh well, the card works without it.

As I mentioned earlier, this card is posted to my Etsy shop.  Feel free to pin it, post it on FB or Twitter, and show me some love!  Or, of course, buy it!

Thanks for looking and happy scrapping!

…fresh off a card spree…

…and sick…but no matter!

So I wanted to make a card for a boy, which meant no flowers, buttons, or ribbons…but since Halloween is coming up, I thought, why not a Halloween card for a boy!  So here’s my effort…

For this card I started with a kraft cardstock base and added gesso, then black and gold Tattered Angels spray mist.  Then I cut strips of patterned paper (the dark green with monsters is something I’ve had forever!  Might even be from when I first started scrapbooking!) and distressed the edges and inked them in black pigment ink, and finally crinkled.  I pushed brushed metal brads (also from my stash and quite a few years old) on the ends and adhered the strips to look like a boarded up window.

Next, I took a piece of cardboard and ripped pieces off of one side, then added gesso and black pigment ink to give it a weathered look.  I adhered the cardboard piece onto patterned paper with orange jewelry cord (something else I’ve had for a few years, and I’ve got other colors too) wrapped around it like rope.  I also added toothpicks to make it look like a sign.  Onto the front I added three die-cut Halloween sentiments (I finally cut into a sheet of die-cut Halloween sentiments, and there’s more where those came from!).

I like the beaten up, haunted house look to it.  I figure it’s a good card for a boy, just spooky enough, and rough and tumble.

I’m entering this into the following challenges:

SOS #20: Kids

Use it Tuesday #64: Use Two

…waiting for…

…the onslaught of pink and red that is so prevalent leading up to Valentine’s Day, and of course, related to the world of scrapbooking/papercrafting. I received an e-mail from ScrapBuck.com about a sale on Valentine’s Day supplies. And while there was the (obligatory?) red and pink goodies, there were a few items, that were beautifully pink-less. Colors that are not associated with the holiday, or perhaps love (in all its forms) in general. And it made me so happy!

And while I at the moment can’t justify purchasing them (simply because of financial constraints), it gives me hope that more scrapbooking manufacturers will think outside the box when it comes with new products that are holiday-themed.

Is there a holiday color or combination of colors that make you squeal with joy and groan with fatigue and annoyance?

my ScrapMuse is…inspired!

inspired by everything Tim Holtz (though I obviously can’t afford it all:P)

…my gift to you this holiday season is another layout featuring my adorable little guy…entitled “All I want for Hanukkah is my two front teeth…

I got to borrow some Tattered  Angels spray mist in Cinnamon and Forest Green, and the paper actually has the Dreidel song written on it.

Some up close shots:

And my little gift to myself…a craft suitcase!

So happy holidays to all, a happy and healthy new year and happy scrapping :D!

my ScrapMuse is…loving

…loving the month, holiday, and birthday spoils.  Yes you heard right, birthday spoils…I was going to make a post on my birthday (October 11), but never got a chance to, so here we are.  What would I like for my birthday?  Well, I plan to order some goodies for myself (I’m allowed, what else is birthday money for :P?)  What’s that you ask?  What do you want for your birthday?  Beautiful words from you…

what do you think of my blog so far?

what do you think of the products so far?  does anything make your scrapbooker or papercrafter heart all aflutter?  is there something you’d like to see?

what keeps you from ordering the products?  what would entice you to order the products?

do you have photos that you’d love to have in a scrapbook album but don’t know where to begin?  what can I say or do to encourage your business?

and, of course, since I’ll be placing an order this month…anyone who would like to add to my order for themselves…by all means, ask 🙂

As I’ve mentioned before, Halloween makes my little phaerygurl heart go aflutter…and this Express Kit is making me give lots of girly squeals.  There’s tulle!  They put tulle in it!  yay!  If you’re interested, drop me a line.  Each kit is $29.95 plus S&H
